Unisocial Hosted a Block Party in New York for the Community
In the heart of Brooklyn, Unisocial hosted an event known as the Block Party, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds. The gathering was not just a celebration but a profound expression of long-term spiritual support and assistance, aimed at helping those in need to rebuild their lives.
The atmosphere was charged with hope as community members came together to receive much-needed help on August 17th, 2024. Eighty Unisocial volunteers and over 400 people were at the event. The event featured:
• Prayer and Worship: Attendees began with a heartfelt prayer, calling upon the Holy Spirit for guidance and blessings.
• Food and Refreshments: Volunteers worked tirelessly to provide homemade meals and refreshments to families, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and nourished.
• Clothing Giveaways: Clothing was generously distributed to men, women, and children, addressing a critical need in the community.
Ashley, a volunteer, expressed the significance of the event, stating, “This is what we should be doing for Christ because Christ died for us.” Her sentiment echoed throughout the day as many shared their gratitude for the support they received.
Recognizing the importance of health prevention and self-care, the event also featured a healthcare station where community members could access:
• Free Medical Screenings: Addressing the alarming statistic that over 40% of adults in New York have a chronic disease.
• Nutritional Advice: Providing guidance to help individuals make healthier choices.
• Medical Coaching: Offering support for those managing ongoing health conditions.
• Hair Braiding and Nail Care Services: Offering hair care and nail care to people who do not have access to hair salons or nail salons.
Pastor Kenneth highlighted the event’s purpose, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community without any charge, making these essential services accessible to all.
As the day came to a close, the joy and unity felt during the event were palpable. Attendees left not only with physical supplies but also a renewed sense of hope and community spirit. The commitment to supporting one another and transforming lives was evident, showcasing that together, they can overcome challenges and build a brighter future. The goal of Unisocial is to combine action with faith as it is written in “the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:35)
