More Than 18 Tons of Food, Free Services, and a Message of Faith Were Shared With Families in Peru
Throughout 2026, The Universal Church is observing the Year of GO (the Great Commission), which reinforces the mission left by the Lord Jesus to spread the Word of God to all people (Mark 16:15). GO represents more than a biblical concept; it embodies a commitment to provide both material and spiritual support to those in need.
In line with this mission, project volunteers began preparations more than a month before the event. Church members and supporters of the initiative collaborated to ensure that thousands of families received assistance.
As a result of this effort, 18,265 kilograms of food and 500 pieces of clothing were distributed. The initiative also provided free services such as haircuts, blood pressure checks, and weight measurements.
“I was taking blood pressure readings during the event, and it was a very special experience because many people cannot afford to go to a hospital or get health checkups. Some people had high blood pressure and were advised to seek medical help and also seek support from their faith, which, added to the medical care, can lead to better outcomes. While I treat patients at the hospital, this experience is different because we also share the Word of God. It was an unforgettable experience.”
“Along with providing material assistance like food, haircuts, and basic health checks, we also offer spiritual support to those in need. We prepared for a month to be here. I feel great about helping, just as I was once helped at The Universal Church. I’m happy that many people are benefiting from our efforts.”
During the event, Pastor Marcos Domingues, responsible for the evangelistic work of The Universal Church in Peru, shared a message based on the parable of the prodigal son. He emphasized how the young man prioritized material possessions over his father’s presence and, after squandering his inheritance, realized he needed to return home.
The story illustrates that, just as the father welcomed his son back, God also embraces those who choose to return to Him wholeheartedly. Thus, in addition to providing tangible assistance, Unisocial conveyed a powerful message of faith and hope to families.
“God doesn’t invite anyone to join a religion, but rather to obey, and that’s what truly brings about change in a person’s life,” he added.
Based on Mark 16:18, the pastor also proposed a faith challenge and offered prayers for those dealing with pain and illness. Following this, participants shared their experiences from the event.
“I came not only for the food basket but also for the Word of God. Sincerely, I’m leaving very happy because I learned God’s message today. I want to know more about the Word and get closer to God. Thank you so much for your help; we truly need it here.”
“It was a wonderful experience that filled our souls with joy. The Word is more important than physical food. Everyone was very kind and helped us check our health by taking our blood pressure. I am very happy because I really needed this food.”
In addition to addressing basic needs, the initiative demonstrated that social assistance can be paired with spiritual care. Through Unisocial, volunteers provided practical help while simultaneously sharing a message of faith and hope with the families.
