On October 20th, 2024, at 3 PM, five Unisocial volunteers visited Caritas Men’s Shelter to pray for the men there and distribute hygiene gift bags to those available to receive them.
Richmond, Virginia, known for its vibrant culture, was recently ranked the 3rd best place to travel by Travel & Leisure, recognized as the top foodie city by National Geographic, and in 2023, it was ranked by the Wall Street Journal as USA’s 11th-hottest job market. However, behind the accolades, Richmond also faces challenges. According to the July 2024 Point-in-Time (PIT) count, 585 people in the city were experiencing homelessness in a given night, with 267 individuals living unsheltered.
On October 20th, 2024, at 3 PM, five Unisocial volunteers visited Caritas Men’s Shelter to pray for the men there and distribute hygiene gift bags to the men available to receive them. The remaining gift bags were left for the staff to distribute.
Pastor Edward Buthelezi reflected on the event, saying, “It is always a blessing to help people. This is what the Lord Jesus would do if He were here in our position.”
Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the LORD, And my work with my God.’ ” (Isaiah 49:4)
