“I’m Not in the Mood”

We Have to Live By Faith and Not by What We Feel.

“I’m Not In The Mood”

How many times have we said, “I’m Not in the Mood”? A young lady I have been helping in the church came to talk to me. I’d not seen her for a while, so I asked her what was going on. She said: “Nanda, I’m not in the mood to come to the church.”

Now I’m going to ask you something. When do we actually want to do something that brings benefits to us? Anything that brings us benefits requires effort and sacrifice.

Generally, when you study, it is not because you enjoy it! Have you ever heard somebody saying: “Oh, I really want to study”? You want to sleep a lot, watch TV all day, go to the beach every day, you want to do nothing sometimes, you don’t want to help with the housework. You wish, wish, and wish! We must watch out that these “wishes” don’t dictate our lives!

Every day, I have to go against what I feel like doing. That is what blesses me: when I win against what I struggle with. You also need to overcome what you feel like doing, which is something nobody can do for you! The less you go to church, for example, the less you will want to go. So what?! Throw away these feelings and go!

There are days that I don’t want to do anything, but I do everything I don’t want to. We have to live by faith and not by what we feel. This will make a big difference in your life, in all areas, but especially in your spiritual life.

Task 18

Analyze your attitudes in your life and see if you have been living according to your wishes and feelings. Go against that and do the very things you don’t want to do because, normally, those things will bless you. Are you not in the mood to wake up late at night to pray? Are you not in the mood to read the Bible? Are you not in the mood to pray? Are you not in the mood to fast? Are you not in the mood to go to the church? You know what you have to do.
