Hobby Unit - Open Call Service

On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the UBB was at the Hobby Unit for a powerful service. That Tuesday, the UBB did an open call service, which means it is available for everyone to come and join, not only those who are a part of the classes held in the UBB.

For the first time, those in medium custody could attend the services with the UBB and population. That day, there were over 300 women who participated in the open service and The Lord’s Supper.

A word of faith was given, and they explained the importance of not allowing distractions between a person and God. God gave us free will to choose. However, it is easier to satisfy the flesh and turn away from it, but the eternal condemnation is worse. The Word of God says that the wages of sin lead to death, not of the body but of the soul. When you choose to deny your flesh, you will inherit eternal life.

There is no way for a person to have their cake and eat it too. You know that saying, right? You can’t have God and the world. It would be best to let go of one and hold the other, but there will be a consequence.

What Is the Difference?

One will be a good consequence, and the other will be bad, but you must decode before it’s too late.

Some inmates received counseling, which was an opportunity to clear many of the doubts in their minds. One lady wondered whether the event was for her and if she should stay. One of the volunteers motivated her to remain for the event, and she was blessed afterward.

Another lady who attended was facing many problems. Still, she was happy that she went because the Word given was needed, and she realized that God allowed her to be present.

When the ladies had the opportunity to receive the laying of the hands and the determination to receive the Holy Spirit, they were very receptive and overjoyed. After the prayer, you could see the happiness and the peace on their faces.

The ladies in the Hobby Unit were also graced with the presence of our Youth Power Group (YPG), which performed two special performances for them, a dance and a skit. It was a vibrant time together, with many smiles, laughter, and moments to think through the skit they saw about commitment.

One lady stated, “Seeing the youths here made me happy and reminded me of my children. It made me think of what they can also become in this society, doing good.”
