The Event Included Donations, Free Services, and Cultural Performances
Volunteers from the Uniforça Project—an initiative of Força Jovem Universal (FJU), also known as the Youth Power Group (YPG)—conducted a social outreach in February at the Aldeia de Crianças SOS orphanage, located in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. This visit aimed to provide support to the children and adolescents residing at the institution.
Pelengue Samuel, the director of Aldeia de Crianças SOS, highlights the significance of the interaction with FJU volunteers: “This opportunity will enable children and young people to make connections and gain new experiences. The support we receive will make all the difference in their daily lives.”
The event featured donations of clothing, cleaning products, and school supplies, as well as free services like blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, manicures, haircuts, and braiding. Volunteers also prepared a special lunch and organized cultural performances, creating a joyful day of essential care for those who often lack access to these resources.
Fátima Sara, who has lived there since childhood and is about to enter the social reintegration phase, expresses her gratitude: “I am satisfied. I hope they visit us more frequently and also help us participate in other FJU events.”
Fabrício Orlindo, who oversees this initiative and other efforts in local orphanages, emphasizes that the goal of these actions is to demonstrate to the residents that they are capable of overcoming challenges. What may seem like a problem today can turn into a story of triumph tomorrow.
