Forgiveness Led Me To True Freedom

Life Changing Story of Ms. Kathy

I was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Due to a bad decision I made one night I was arrested and sent to prison. Let me tell you, life behind bars was no life at all. It was just miserable. I had seen so much behind those walls; people cutting themselves, seeing people lying on the dirty ground, cut up and bleeding. There wouldForgiveness Led Me To True Freedom
be fights and riots among inmates and
it would often get fatal.

There was no peace inside me, only animosity, fear and a lot of frustration. I would see the worst of the worst. This was throughout my time in prison. I was in a really dark place. I lost all hope of ever having freedom again, but I thank God for the UBB coming into the unit. Through their work, care and dedication, I was helped so much. My eyes were opened through the classes of the UBB. They taught me to look ahead and improve my life, even while in prison. I would receive letters from the UBB and it allowed me to believe that someone was truly there for me. I was released from prison, and came to the Universal Church. My life is moving forward day by day, I’m learning more about my faith and getting closer to God.

The Undeniable Power of True Forgiveness:
Almost everyone has experienced being wronged by someone. It could be a former coworker, friend, or family member. But hanging on to those negative feelings can do great harm to your health.Practicing forgiveness can have powerful health benefits. Observational studies, and even some randomized trials. They suggest that forgiveness is associated with lower levels of depression, anxiety, and hostility. Reduced substance abuse; higher self-esteem; and greater life satisfaction.
When the bad feelings arise, remind yourself that you have forgiven and ultimately you want good for the offender. – Kathy
