The Universal Church in Aruba Is Celebrating Its 23rd Anniversary

On February 14th, 2025, The Universal Church celebrated 23 years of evangelistic work in Aruba, a country in the south of the Caribbean. This means that, since 2002, The Universal Church has been providing spiritual and social support to residents in the region.

A special service took place on the 16th at 9:30 AM to celebrate an important milestone for The Universal Church in the country. Approximately 200 volunteers, church congregants, and their families attended the event.

Pastor Alexander Lopez, who oversees the evangelistic work of The Universal Church in Aruba, shares a reflection: “It is a privilege to know that during these 23 years, many souls have been reached, as well as many servants of God on this island.”

Altagracia Poindejour, 33, has been a congregant of The Universal Church for 20 years. She shares her experience: “Before, I couldn’t sleep at night. I was sad and had many family problems.”  Today, God transformed her life completely. She expresses her happiness and joy, “It is a privilege to be part of this wonderful work!”

Beginning of the Journey of Faith

The Universal Church in Aruba Is Celebrating Its 23rd AnniversaryResidents of Aruba who watched programs from The Universal Church on a foreign channel began reaching out to the church. This prompted the pastors to recognize the necessity of traveling to Aruba. Consequently, they made their way to the Caribbean island.

Initially, weekly meetings were held at a cultural center in the region. Over time, the church grew, and a larger and more comfortable space was established to serve the population. Prayer services in Aruba are held in Spanish and Papiamento, the native language.

Pastor Alexander, who has been in Aruba for seven months, learned the language during the nine years he spent in Curaçao doing evangelistic work. He recalls his gradual process of learning the language, “We started the meetings and learned by listening to the people, reading the Bible in Papiamento, and listening to native music.”

Another way to bring the Gospel to the people of Aruba has been recently launched: a program on a local FM radio station and online. In the last two months, this channel has become an important tool for spreading the message of Salvation. The program airs Monday through Friday at 7 AM.

Similar to the work done worldwide, The Universal Church in Aruba also has social programs to meet different community needs. Congregants have the opportunity to volunteer in groups such as the Youth Power Group (YPG) and the Soul Winners Group (SWG), which work to benefit the Aruban community.
