On August 17th, the ‘Life’s Worth Living’ soccer tournament brought together hundreds of young people at the Dublin Indoor Football complex in Ireland. Organized by the Ireland’s Victory Youth Group (also known as Youth Power Group in the USA), the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of valuing life, particularly for those struggling with emotional challenges.
The tournament not only encouraged physical activity as a means of promoting both physical and mental well-being but also included lectures on mental health, offering young people crucial insights into self-care. A special moment of reflection on the Word of God highlighted the event, emphasizing the promise of peace for those who believe.
Pastor David Gomes, responsible for the VYG in Ireland, shared a message of hope, reminding participants of God’s positive plan for their lives, quoting Jeremiah 29:11,
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
The event featured powerful testimonies from young people who have overcome internal struggles such as depression, anxiety, and various complexes through faith. Their stories offered support and motivation to others facing similar challenges.
Ireland’s VYG Records, along with the VYG dance group, delivered performances that reinforced the event’s message—life is truly worth living.
Participants also had the opportunity to contribute to the Unisocial project by donating non-perishable food items. This initiative focuses on providing physical and social support to families experiencing vulnerability and food insecurity.
Joshua, a participant, shared, “We could see that there is a solution, and we need to have hope. This event was really good!” Gabby echoed this sentiment, saying, “The event was an incredible experience. It was great to see young people playing football and showcasing their talents. Everything was done with the purpose of helping those who are suffering, and I take this as a great lesson in life.”
Marita, another attendee, reflected on the moment of prayer, saying, “I felt a peace and joy that I had never felt before. I understood that God is the way out of my problems and the only one who can help me. With this, I will turn to God and build a relationship with Him!”
The ‘Life’s Worth Living’ tournament successfully combined sports, faith, and community service to inspire hope and promote the value of life among Ireland’s youth.
