Núbia Siqueira Shares Her Experience Following a Heart Attack
On the night of January 19th, Núbia Siqueira, the wife of Bishop Domingos Siqueira, who is currently responsible for the evangelistic work of The Universal Church in Europe, suffered a heart attack.
On the morning of Tuesday, February 4th, Núbia Siqueira participated in a special interview on the program Mulheres em Foco (Women in Focus) aired by Unifé TV Portugal. During the interview, she shared an emotional testimony about a challenging moment in her life. Known for her reflections on faith, Núbia recounted her experience of facing an unexpected heart attack and how she transformed that ordeal into a valuable learning experience.
After returning from a missionary trip to Israel, Núbia began experiencing intense chest pains. At first, she thought it was just a temporary discomfort. However, as her symptoms worsened, she contacted Dr. Albertina, who has 40 years of medical experience. Dr. Albertina immediately suspected a heart attack. Upon arriving at the hospital, initial tests did not reveal the problem. However, further detailed analyses confirmed the seriousness of her condition.
When Núbia was admitted for observation, she experienced some very challenging moments. Connected to machines, she endured intense chest pain. In addition to the pain, she had to follow dietary and hydration restrictions because she needed to fast for potential medical procedures. During this difficult time, she drew strength from her faith, recalling a passage from the Bible:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)
Nubia reported that, even in the face of adversity, she felt an inner peace. Despite hearing cries of pain from other patients in the hospital, she maintained her trust in God. “My body was vulnerable, but my life was in the hands of the LORD, and He is not vulnerable. I am weak, but the LORD is strong,” she said.
One of the most memorable moments was when Núbia, during her prolonged fast, began to feel an intense thirst. A nurse suggested that she moisten her mouth with gauze, but instead, in prayer, she asked God to ease her thirst. “The Lord was my water at that moment. I didn’t get to drink water until Tuesday, after a long time, but He sustained me,” she testified.
Even in the face of uncertainty about the diagnosis and physical difficulties, she emphasized that her faith was strengthened. “In times of difficulty, we think we won’t be able to cope, but God enables us. He gives us the strength to move forward,” she said.
Núbia Siqueira’s testimony emphasizes the significance of faith during challenging times, inspiring others to face their challenges with courage and confidence.
