The “Unisocial in Action” Event Was Held in the Cities of Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga and Santa Marta
On October 27th, Unisocial in Colombia held the “Unisocial in Action” event in Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, and Santa Marta, distributing 42 tons of food to support families in vulnerable situations.
According to Víctor Flórez, the head of Unisocial in Colombia, “Social inequality has increased, and pain and suffering have been transferred to many families. When we walk the streets and see vulnerable children without having anything to eat, that is precisely what motivates us.”
In 2023, 26.1% of households in Colombia experienced severe or moderate food insecurity, according to a report released by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The initiative, which had the support of 410 volunteers, assisted around 6 thousand people with the distribution of basic food baskets and a free blood pressure measurement service.
“It’s a big help because we were in a very difficult situation. I feel like God remembered us. My tears are now tears of joy. Unisocial, please continue with this wonderful work,” said Ely Colina, one of the beneficiaries on that day.
