The Unisocial of Altanta, Georgia, Helping the Community
On August 17th, 2024, Unisocial volunteers gathered to provide essential services to homeless persons, offering hot meals, clothing, and prayers in Atlanta, Georgia.
Atlanta has a long list of history, this journey through Atlanta can be visited by the residences of notable figures who played significant roles in shaping the city into the beautiful city it is today. Experience Atlanta from the perspective of its early inhabitants by exploring some of the city’s most historic homes. Among the most popular is the birth home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
According to Atlanta’s Mission, the 2024 Point-In-Time Count revealed that approximately 2,867 individuals are experiencing homelessness in Atlanta. There are both sheltered and unsheltered persons in this group, with 1,827 in emergency shelters or transitional housing and 1,040 in unsheltered areas. This count represents a 7% increase from the previous year, underscoring the growing need for effective interventions and support systems.
In a heartwarming display of community support, around 20 Unisocial volunteers gathered on August 17th at 11 AM to provide essential services to the homeless population in Atlanta’s Hidden Homeless Camp. The volunteers served hot meals, offered clothing, and extended prayers to over 100 homeless persons, striving to make a positive impact in their lives.
Pastor Damien who led the initiative shared, “The people were so grateful, and it was heartwarming to see the level of appreciation they showed.” This statement highlights the importance of community outreach and the ongoing efforts of local governments and volunteers to address homelessness in Atlanta.
As the national homeless population continues to rise, the community of Atlanta stands as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that dedicated local efforts can yield significant results in the fight against homelessness.
