Despite Negative Influences, It Is Essential to Draw Inspiration From Positive Examples, as They Are the Ones Worth Following
Have you ever heard the saying, “Nothing is created; everything is copied”? This phrase suggests that we are all surrounded by references and inspirations, allowing us to adopt ideas, behaviors, and gestures based on the actions of others.
However, in any environment, there are good and bad examples. Unfortunately, one of the most common human attitudes is to pay more attention to the bad things around us, which harms our spiritual life.
In a recent episode of Meditation of the Word, a series available on Univer Video, Cristiane Cardoso comments on this subject and relies on the passage from Hebrews 13.7, which describes: “Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.”
Cristiane reminds us that it is possible to identify bad servants. “The bad servant is the one who only thinks about themselves, is petty, and has behaviors contrary to what God teaches, but the way we have to deal with them is by not looking at their actions,” she advised.
The prophet Asaph is a case of someone who looked at the evildoers and almost lost himself. He said, “But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” (Psalm 73:2-3)
Cristiane explains that when a woman observes and considers a bad example, she ends up putting herself in a situation of injustice. “Why look at the bad when there are good examples? We must observe those who are humble, happy, willing to learn, to change, and who flourish in every situation,” she adds.
A woman inspired by those who do good obtains protection for her life and the opportunity to improve by learning from the examples and experiences of others who live for goodness. “Human beings have a habit of wanting to maintain their own personality, but God never spoke of personality, but about denying oneself (Luke 9:23), for example,” she says.
It is possible to find other passages in the Holy Scriptures about the order to look at good examples, such as Paul (1 Corinthians 11:1) and Abraham (Isaiah 51:2). “By looking at the good servants, we also become good examples, not only preaching about God but showing Him in our actions,” she concludes.
