Ski Resort Closes Due to Lack of Snow
Another ski resort in the Alps will close permanently due to the lack of snow and the economic losses. That’s what the inhabitants of Seyne-les-Alpes, in southeastern France, decided last Sunday.
Understand Better
Climate change has weakened the city-run Le Grand Puy ski resort. It is made up of 24 kilometers of tracks located between 1,370 meters and 1,800 meters of altitude. Due to the lack of snow, the station accumulated hundreds of thousands of euros in annual losses.
Furthermore, this isn’t the only ski resort in this range that could close. On Sunday, the Matheysine community of municipalities also agreed to end subsidies to the Alpe du Grand Serre station, which will close after 85 years of existence.
But these cases are not something new: since the 1970s, more than 180 stations have been closed, most of them family or community microstations located in mid-mountain areas, according to Pierre-Alexandre Metral, a doctoral candidate at the University of Grenoble.
Reflect
Extreme climate change is part of the warnings in God’s Word about the end of humanity and the world. Thus, based on the countless evidence reported, it is possible to notice how close we are to the end of times.
“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” (Matthew 24.32-34)
Therefore, it is important to remain vigilant and take care of the Salvation of our souls—our only possession that will not perish but will live eternally.
