I Don’t Judge You, I Help You: Check Out How Mega Help Went

A huge life-affirming event held by the project, which helped countless people. Learn more

The biggest event to value life took place on Saturday, September 24th, 2022: Mega Help. More than 30 thousand people, from several cities in the state of São Paulo, occupied the Anhembi Sambadrome, in the capital of São Paulo.

Why It Is Important

The idea of holding this event came about, above all, due to the increase in emotional and mental problems after the pandemic.

“Yellow September” is a month of reflection on the value of life and the fight against depression and suicide. Thus, the event also took place on other dates in September in 16 other Brazilian cities and in 17 other countries.

“We want to help people see that this problem, without a doubt, has a solution. By coming here, they will receive help, without judgment, and, in this way, they will understand that this problem they face is not the end, that they can overcome it”, said Cadu Souza (pictured above, on the right), national manager of Help.

Thus, the moment also included the “Cantinho do Desabafo” action, in which dozens of volunteers from the project were available to listen and help the participants.

They Won the Battle of Thoughts

“I came here to invest more in my self-love and to heal my mental health. After all, I am depressed. I am enjoying the event. It is completely different from what I imagined. Besides, being able to talk to people who have overcome what I am facing gives me the strength to move forward,” said Henrique Oliveira, 30 years old.

  • Volunteer Denise Oliveira (pictured on the side), 21 years old, said she came from Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo. “Here, at ‘Cantinho do Desabafo’, young people can open up to us and we understand them. Because we have already been through what they are going through,” she says.

  • Tamirys Lima, 17 years old, came from Mairiporã, in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. “I was feeling discouraged, sad. But, with everything I saw at the event, and after this conversation, I feel more relieved. I saw that I can overcome my problems.”
  • Volunteer Luiza Santos, 24, said she is happy to help people see their own worth. “A few years ago, I was depressed and received help from Help. I had people who reached out to me, helped me see my worth and see the light at the end of the tunnel. I overcame it and it is very rewarding to help people who are one step away from taking their own lives,” she says.

The Big Picture

The event featured dance and music performances by 12 schools in the city of São Paulo and the Metropolitan Region that are supported by the work of Namoro Blindado and Help. “Through culture, we want to motivate them to have new thoughts. With that, we notice the joy in each one. And that is priceless,” commented Walber Barboza, who served as master of ceremonies at the event.

Rosana dos Reis, principal of one of these schools, reports the difference that Help’s work makes in the day-to-day life of the classroom. “The return from these two years of pandemic was difficult. Many students were having emotional problems, and this work helps us a lot. Soon after, the students feel lighter. They feel more comfortable coming to us for help. This way, we are able to help them and the day-to-day life at school becomes easier.”

There were also lectures and moments of reflection on life. One of them was attended by teachers from the School of Love, Renato and Cristiane Cardoso: “We help young people remember that they can count on help from Above, from God, and, in addition, seek help in the right places. Therefore, those who want to make a difference must invest in positive content for young people,” said Renato. “I am very happy to help these young people with a word, with guidance. When I look at this crowd, I see myself as a mother who can help her son. I feel fulfilled,” added Cristiane.
