Your Reaction Will Determine Your Success. Find Out More
On the night of September 5th, 2024, Bishop Marcio Carotti, alongside his wife Danielle Carotti, spoke at the Love Therapy at the Temple of Solomon. During the meeting, they explained how to face setbacks that arise in love life.
It’s normal for people to plan their lives, what the week, the year, the day, meeting with friends, going to church will be like. And it would be no different with love life. They imagine what it will be like to meet someone, the dating phase, the engagement, the wedding, having children. But not everything will happen as in their dream script.
It is necessary to understand that situations can arise unexpectedly and disrupt the natural course of things—the famous setbacks. They may even cause some annoyance, but you are the one who will determine, according to your reaction to them, whether they will prevent you from achieving what you want or not.
“A setback is an unexpected event. These are things that happen in our lives, in general, that take us by surprise. And when it comes to changing your life, unexpected situations can always arise,” said Bishop Marcio.
Danielle questioned, “We may be taken by surprise, but the question is: how are we going to react to this?”
The couple gave the example of the Shulammite woman. When faced with the adversities of her relationship with the beloved of her soul, she did not give up.
By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him. “I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; In the streets and in the squares I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not find him. The watchmen who go about the city found me; I said, “Have you seen the one I love?” Scarcely had I passed by them, When I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go…
(Songs 3:1-4)
“Look at how many setbacks this woman encountered. First, she didn’t find her lover in bed. Then she says: ‘I sought the beloved of my soul.’ It was a setback, but she didn’t give up. She continued persevering until she found him,” commented the bishop.
We should all keep this in mind: setbacks will always happen in any area of our lives. However, we shouldn’t stop our journey to lament the setbacks we encounter but rather strive to overcome them. When we do this, we become stronger and more experienced. It’s a matter of how you choose to see things.
“We only achieve happiness when we persevere,” concluded Danielle.
