William Mead Homes is a public housing community owned and managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA). Originally designed to accommodate 449 families, the site now has 415 units, as HACLA combined some units to create larger living spaces. One of these units was converted into an on-site health clinic, enhancing the services available to residents.
On August 10th, 2024, at 11 AM, eighteen volunteers from Unisocial visited William Mead Homes. The volunteers distributed hot meals, including tacos, juices, and water, along with clothing. The event drew a crowd of around 200 people.
“I am so grateful for the work Unisocial has done. I was able to get clothes for myself and my daughter.”
“I’m thankful to everyone who made this event possible. The community and children were greatly helped with the back-to-school supplies, food, and clothing distribution.”
Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. (Matthew 25:40)
Pastor Alex referred to the verse above and shared the driving force and ultimate purpose of the Unisocial Project, stating, “We are here today to fulfill the commandment the Lord Jesus has given us. We came to rescue the community, not just materially, but above all, spiritually.”
