Lack of Action Is a Reflection of Superficial Faith. Discover How to Transform Your Reality by Putting God at the Center of Your Decisions
How often have you felt stuck in a rut or a situation that doesn’t seem to change? This feeling of stagnation is more common than you might think, but it can reflect a lack of dependence on God and attitudes that reflect faith.
Viviane Freitas addresses this issue in one of her meditations on her blog. “It is one thing to have information about God, to be a religious woman; it is another to be a living witness of God,” she writes. This warning challenges us to see beyond the superficial so that we not only know the Word but live it daily. In the story of Jacob, we see a striking example of this.
After resolving the conflict with his brother Esau, he stopped in front of the city of Shechem. There, he settled down, allowing events to unfold without leadership or initiative. What was the result of this? Tragedies struck his family. This episode highlights that inaction can lead to painful consequences in both personal and family life.
In everyday life, many people follow the same path as Jacob when they allow their problems to accumulate. For instance, a woman who realizes she is in a toxic relationship but fails to seek a way out is giving up on her well-being. A mother who notices her children’s emotional distance but does not take the initiative to reconnect with them also chooses inaction. Similarly, a professional who aspires to new challenges but is too afraid to take risks is making the same mistake.
Complacency is a silent enemy that paralyzes us and prevents us from taking necessary action. However, just as Jacob listened to God and changed his attitude, we, too, can change our reality.
Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.” (Genesis 35:1)
This teaches us that we must rise, purify ourselves, and put God at the center of our decisions. In practice, this decision may mean organizing the family’s finances, seeking wise advice, or even completely changing direction in a certain area of life. The important thing is to take action. Viviane points out, “When you become complacent and don’t feel good about yourself, it’s because you’re not doing what you have to do before God.”
Don’t let stagnation dominate you. Recognize your flaws, trust in God, and take the actions that your faith demands. After all, transformation begins when we decide to get up and move forward with determination.
