The Universal Church began its mission in The Gambia, West Africa, on February 11th, 2011. This week, it is celebrating 14 years of service, spreading the Gospel, and promoting social initiatives for various groups. On February 23rd, 2025, to commemorate this significant milestone, a special service will take place at The Universal Church in Serrekunda. Approximately 200 people are anticipated to attend.
The program features the Nutri-Action Event organized by the Caleb Group, which focuses on supporting senior citizens. This event will take place at 1 PM, including a talk on healthy eating and overall well-being, with guidance from health professionals. Attendees will also receive nutritious snacks. Approximately 50 senior citizens are expected to participate.
The Caleb Group actively promotes cultural activities in The Gambia, emphasizing traditional music and dance. They also support and encourage preventive health habits and physical exercise for the older population.
The Universal Church in The Gambia also engages with various age groups through two social programs. The first is the Youth Power Group (YPG), which helps young people overcome addictions and depression. The second program is the Soul Winners Group, which, in addition to participating in social initiatives, also supports individuals facing discouragement, providing messages of strength, hope, and faith.
The Universal Church has a crucial purpose: to bring the Gospel to everyone in need. This is how Annah Jarju experienced a life transformation. She shares a bit about her story:
“I suffered a lot from illnesses since I was a child. The situation worsened after I married when I started hearing voices and seeing shadows at night. I was rejected, even by my husband, who left me and went to Senegal. I felt angry and lonely, especially with my young children.”
Annah sought help in hospitals and religions but received no answers. “That’s when I decided to go to Senegal to get treatment and visit my son. I told him everything I was going through, and he invited me to go to The Universal Church,” she says.
She finally reveals what happened to her life after she entered a temple of the church: “On the first day, I remember that I was able to sleep very well. When I returned to The Gambia, I continued attending and committed myself to God. Today, I no longer suffer from the disease. I am filled with the Holy Spirit, serve God, and am happy.”
