On October 11, several parks worldwide will become locations for the ninth Love Walk—a major yearly event that has established itself as a movement beyond a simple get-together. It is an invitation to attentive listening and the rediscovery of companionship.
The proposal came from Renato and Cristiane Cardoso, authors of the book Bulletproof Marriage and hosts of the Brazilian TV Program The Love School—Escola do Amor.
From the first Love Walk in 2012 through 2024, except 2020, approximately 852,000 people have participated in or benefited from the event.
In a society marked by haste, digital distractions, and an overload of responsibilities, face-to-face conversations have become a rarity.
The Love Walk aims to reclaim this lost simplicity:
• Walking side by side
• Dedicating time to listening
• Allowing uninterrupted conversations to reveal often-silent needs and expectations
This event serves as an accessible response to one of the greatest challenges of modern life—preserving the quality of relationships.
A biblical principle reinforces the essence of this proposal:
Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? (Amos 3:3)
According to Renato Cardoso, a lack of communication is one of the main factors undermining relationships.
“It creates cold, dull marriages where spouses merely tolerate each other. When we break out of our routine and disconnect from the world to talk as a couple, the environment itself fosters communication. You don’t have to be experiencing problems to take the Love Walk; what you need is to value your relationship, and that requires time.”
He emphasizes that the initiative is also dedicated to those who want to strengthen what they’ve already built.
The idea for the Love Walk originated from a personal experience between Renato and Cristiane, who at one point decided to set aside time to walk and talk in a park.
In their bestselling book, Bulletproof Marriage, Cristiane summarizes this experience:
“He learned about my dreams, my concerns, my difficulties, what I wanted and didn’t want, and vice versa. Those precious hours greatly strengthened our union. After that conversation, I knew exactly what he expected of me. I knew what to do to support him and how to do it. Sometimes you think you’re right by your partner’s side, but in reality, you’re far away due to your ignorance of what you both truly want from each other.”
The event welcomes two types of audiences:
• Married couples: an opportunity to reconnect with their spouse and avoid what Renato and Cristiane describe as “invisible separation,” where partners share the same physical space but lack emotional intimacy.
• Singles: a safe and relaxed environment to get to know someone naturally, without pressure.
The Love Walk provides a practical guide for participants to:
• Strengthen couple communication and create a distraction-free space
• Maintain intimacy and prevent silent distancing that weakens relationships
• Promote self-knowledge and encourage reflection about oneself and how one relates to others
• Align goals and help couples think about their shared future and make joint decisions
In 2025, the event will take place in 71 countries, with an estimated attendance of 296,000 people.
Among this year’s special features:
• An exclusive deck of cards with interactive questions in the participant kit, designed to stimulate dialogue and bring couples and singles closer together.
• The launch of official t-shirts featuring phrases chosen by the public in a poll:
• Couples: “Intelligent Couples Walking Together”
• Singles: “Relationship Status: Genesis 2:18”
These t-shirts not only identify participants but also reveal their marital status, serving as invitations for new interactions among singles.
