Overeating

It Is Essential to Learn to Balance Desires.

Overeating

Human beings’ appreciation for food is indisputable. Regarding food, many people are quick to reach their limits. These people cave into their cravings and make excuses to justify their overeating. The problem with indulging, whether concerning excessive food consumption or other exaggerations, tends to harm those seeking to minimize their failures and errors.

It is expected to observe that many women attribute their overeating to feelings of sadness or anxiety. Therefore, they justify the abusive consumption of high-calorie and ultra-processed foods in quantities harmful to physical and spiritual health.

When a woman indulges in overeating, she may face consequences such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and even more severe conditions, such as colorectal cancer. Eating without restrictions and in quantities greater than her needs is damaging. Plus, in the future, it will compromise her well-being.

Columnist Viviane Freitas, in one of her meditations on her blog, points out that the Bible teaches that greed is a battle between the Spirit and the flesh. In this internal struggle, each woman must decide who to serve: God or their will. That applies to all areas of life, including how we feed ourselves.

In this sense, reflecting on how to deal with one’s eating habits is essential because our food choices are also reflected in our spiritual life. Often, women do not realize that they are sinning and acting unfairly towards themselves and their bodies by overeating.

“Imagine when Jesus returns, and you are there indulging in your will or your way? Your taste and unlimited will, which have no discipline, are bad for you. That’sThat’s what makes greed. The greed fights against the Spirit and the Spirit, against the flesh,” says Viviane.

DOMINATING YOUR DESIRES

The way a woman approaches food directly impacts her self-control. If she can’t master her eating habits, how can she resist the temptations the world presents her? Therefore, it is essential to learn to balance desires.

The Word of God warns of the dangers of excesses, as recorded in Luke 21:34:

“Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts become burdened by excessiveness and drunkenness and anxieties of life, and that Day comes on you unexpectedly.”

Therefore, reader, be attentive to your health, your desires, and, above all, your spiritual life. Remember that you are responsible for your choices, and the Lord Jesus has granted you the free will to decide concerning everything in your life. Therefore, make choices that honor God and preserve your physical and spiritual well-being.
