Man: An Advice for You, Coming From the Bible Itself

Learn How to Avoid Falling into Evil Traps and Safeguard Your Love Life, Family Life, and Most Importantly, Your Relationship With God

Man: An Advice for You, Coming From the Bible Itself

The Seduction of Sin

One of the most valuable pieces of advice offered by the Word of God directed to men is reading chapters 5 to 7 of the book of Proverbs. So, if you, man, are wondering what you should necessarily read in the Bible, especially when you lack inspiration, look to these chapters as an excellent starting point. They are full of advice and warnings about the dangers of adultery and illustrate how lust can ruin a life.

In chapter 5 of Proverbs, verses 1 to 4, it is possible to find one of the most notable warnings:

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; lend your ear to my understanding, that you may preserve discretion, and your lips may keep knowledge for the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

In this passage, we can observe how the seduction of sin begins: it entices and charms but ultimately leads to destruction.

Bishop Renato Cardoso highlighted the importance of understanding how sin operates, stating, “Sin begins with seduction. Sin is seductive. If it wasn’t so seductive, no one would want it.”  In this sense, you need to be aware of the traps, including the small allowances you make through your thoughts and emotions. It is worth mentioning that when we allow a sinful idea to settle in our minds, we open the doors for it to materialize into actions. The story of King David and Bathsheba is an example of this. When David saw Bathsheba from his balcony, he gave leeway for the desire born in his heart, and the consequences were catastrophic.

Solomon, son of David and Bathsheba, knew this story well. That is why his words are so sharp. In verse 15, he also warns about the danger of neglecting love and intimacy within marriage, something as precious as the water was in ancient times: “Drink water from your own cistern, And running water from your own well.”  If you do this, there will be no room for evil to creep in.

Bishop Renato also warned: “Be careful with your eyes,”  referring to the power of visual seduction that can lead to a fall. Therefore, men need to be cautious not to let their emotional needs lead them to seek comfort elsewhere. “Pay attention to the Word of God, as It warns, so that later you do not say that you did not know,”  observed the Bishop. Seek the Truth, therefore, in the Bible and apply it in your life.
