Many seek visions, dreams, and revelations to know God’s Will. However, what pleases God most is obedience to His Holy Word. We know baptism with the Holy Spirit is God’s seal, the mark that a person belongs to Him. Therefore, whoever receives Him is His child. The devil can tempt a person, but if they have the Spirit of God, they can overcome temptations, as happened with the Lord Jesus. But how can one receive the Holy Spirit?
Desiring Him is not enough: one must pay the price, that is, renounce one’s own will. God gives us His Holy Spirit and entrusts us with responsibilities in order to have Him. Therefore, whoever receives Him has power and authority but will be accountable to God on Judgment Day.
It is easy to attend church and even get baptized in water, for example. The hard part, in fact, is to deny one’s own will, not to transgress the limits of freedom, and to submit to the Will of God in an unjust world like this one. This is because loving God is not a matter of feeling or emotion but of obedience to His commandments. True love is rational and manifests in decisions and actions, such as offering our lives to God.
For this to happen, the person must cleanse their heart of hurts, resentments, and envy. Regarding this, the Lord Jesus said, “When you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there, be Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.” (Matthew 5:23-24)
Even if you do not know all of God’s commandments, you can still please Him by doing good to others. This is because to love in practice is to desire and do good, even to those who have harmed you. In this way, you will be showing love for Him, and He will come to you. The Lord Jesus Himself said, “The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.” (John 14:21) But whoever does not keep God’s words shows they do not love Him and are on the path to perdition.
