We All Want a Happy Ending, and Death Cannot Be the Final Destination. Have You Ever Considered That We Are Merely Passing Through This Life?
Have you ever felt that we are passing through this world? Have you ever thought that we are not from here and this cannot be our final destination? Have you ever thought that death cannot be the end of everything? At least once, you may have asked yourself, “Does it end here?”
Even though few people have a perfect life (success, achievements), they do not experience complete justice in this world. And yet, many die and do not see justice done in life, leaving relatives helpless—an incomplete end. Looking at the big picture, life on this Earth does not present that “happy ending” we all seek.
So, if this feeling that our life on Earth is just a temporary part of our journey was placed in us by God Himself, then where are we ultimately headed? The Word of God confirms that this is not our rest. We are on the way to the true outcome: the new Heaven, the new Earth, where there will be no more crying, pain, and injustice.
Thus, this feeling is in us on purpose so that we come to seek the answer from God. The apostle Paul, by the Holy Spirit, said:
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)
If you have the feeling that there is this “something more,” God has already begun the work of hope. And what do we need to do? We need to trust that God has begun this good work but has not yet finished it, but He will be faithful to finish it. However, you need to remain faithful to Him as well. Don’t lose your hope.
We have to remember: Just a little while longer. It is written:
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay. (Hebrews 10:36-37)
That’s how it is in life: sometimes we think we can’t take it anymore, we want to stop, but keep walking because what God started within us, He will be faithful to complete. And when that happens, we will all be happy for all eternity.
