How to Do the Fast of Daniel: 21 Days of Sanctification

The Fast of Daniel begins on Sunday, March 30th, and concludes on April 20th. This will be 21 days dedicated to sanctification. On the final date of the Fast of Daniel, The Universal Church will hold great gatherings of faith worldwide, which will lead people to receive the Spirit of God.

“Have you ever thought about receiving the Glory of God within yourself, even in these evil days? God gives us this opportunity. But this only happens to those who surrender 100 percent to God because He does not give us His Spirit by measure. Therefore, the surrender has to be total,”  explained Bishop Macedo in a recent message.

Here is a step-by-step process on how to participate in the Fast of Daniel. You need to distance yourself from distractions to cultivate a deeper connection with God.

What is the Daniel Fast?

The Daniel Fast is a time for those who wish to draw closer to God. It is based on the purpose that Daniel undertook, as described in the book of Daniel, chapter 10. For three weeks, Daniel fasted to gain favor, wisdom, and understanding, abstaining from pleasurable foods.

The Fast of Daniel allows you to demonstrate that God is the most important priority in your life. By fasting for 21 days, you will deny yourself worldly pleasures and entertainment that distract you from Him.

The main objective is to receive the Holy Spirit. For 21 days, you will refrain from the pleasures of this world to seek Him. Above all, the Fast of Daniel is an opportunity to deepen your relationship with God and embark on a new life with Him.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Observe the Fast of Daniel

1. For 21 days, abstain from secular entertainment, music, and news. Just as Daniel avoided delicacies and desirable foods, you should refrain from consuming content that indulges your flesh.

2. Connect with God by reading and meditating on the Bible more often. In addition, consider reading a book that nurtures your faith while reflecting on the Bible references mentioned in the book. Some suggestions include In the Footsteps of Jesus and The Holy Spirit by Bishop Macedo.

3. Limit your time on social media. If you’re not using it for work, take a break to focus exclusively on receiving the Holy Spirit.

What to Watch During This Period

You can also watch films and series that help you strengthen your relationship with God. Consider curating a selection of content that conveys messages of faith and keeps you focused on your purpose. The Univer Video platform offers special content for the Fast of Daniel.

Should I Abstain from Food?

The Fast of Daniel focuses on abstaining from worldly information rather than food. The goal is for your soul to be nourished by what comes from Above. God’s primary means for this nourishment is His Word. Therefore, instead of focusing on food, concentrate on deepening your relationship with God during this time.
