God’s Family Begins with a Life of Obedience

Learn How Fellowship With the Father Is Reflected in the Choices We Make and the Way We Live Together at Home

God’s Family Begins with a Life of Obedience

Being part of God’s family means listening to His voice and putting His teachings into practice. In his message on Tuesday, October 20, Bishop Macedo explained that, since the creation, God has desired to have communion with human beings. This relationship, in turn, should be reflected in the choices we make and the way we live together at home.

God’s Principles Begin at Home

Addressing this subject, the bishop emphasized that order, justice, truth, and respect are part of God’s principles. Therefore, living by faith also requires us to examine how we treat those closest to us.

“The Kingdom of God on Earth begins in the family,” he stated.

God’s Desire to Be Close to Us

To explain this closeness, the bishop recalled the creation of Adam and Eve and highlighted a passage from Genesis:

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day… (Genesis 3:8)

According to him, this passage reveals God’s desire to maintain a relationship with His creation. Rather than simply recognizing Him as Creator, human beings would have the opportunity to know Him as Father.

However, Adam and Eve broke this communion when they disobeyed God’s instructions. Using this example, the bishop drew attention to a choice we also face: Whose voice do we listen to?

When someone knows the Word of God but chooses to follow their own desires instead, they fail to put His teachings into practice.

How Can We Become Part of God’s Family?

Next, the bishop explained that the Lord Jesus came to offer people the opportunity to enter the Kingdom of God. To do so, he emphasized the need to be born again, according to the teaching in John 3:

… unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  (John 3:5)

This transformation also extends to family life. After all, those who submit to God’s will begin to seek a home guided by the same principles they have received from Him.

In closing, the bishop emphasized that this is a personal decision. God offers the opportunity, but each person must choose whether they want to obey His Word.
