Knowing the Bible Is Not Enough: We Must Examine Our Motives and Put Its Teachings Into Practice
During the meditation, Cristiane explained that everyone needs to examine their intentions and learn to accept correction without harboring resentment. After all, doing what seems right is not enough when our motives are not aligned with God’s will.
David’s life illustrates this lesson. Before facing Goliath, he cared for his father’s sheep. Later, he decided to confront the giant because Goliath was defying the living God. As Cristiane explained, David’s intention was not to seek recognition but to honor God.
However, David also made mistakes and faced the consequences of his choices. Through his example, Cristiane emphasized that having good intentions does not mean being perfect. What is essential is to acknowledge our shortcomings, accept correction, and show a willingness to change.
Cristiane also explained that spiritual maturity requires recognizing our own condition and respecting the learning process. Therefore, rather than comparing ourselves with others, Christians should evaluate their own attitudes and learn from the experiences they face.
According to the reflection, the way a person responds to guidance also reveals their intentions. Someone who receives correction but refuses to change fails to put what they have learned into practice. In contrast, acknowledging mistakes and correcting one’s behavior demonstrates a willingness to obey the Word of God.
While discussing Revelation 10:9, Cristiane explained the meaning of the passage in which John is instructed to eat the little scroll. According to her, this passage represents the need to assimilate the Word of God and allow its teachings to guide our attitude and actions.
Therefore, it is not enough to attend meetings, listen to guidance, or know the biblical texts. Christians must also put what they learn into practice and allow the Word to transform their behavior.
Finally, Cristiane discussed Revelation 10:11, where John is commanded to prophesy again concerning many peoples, nations, languages, and kings. Based on this teaching, she emphasized the importance of persevering in the mission of proclaiming the Word of God, even when people do not show repentance.
Thus, the meditation offered an important reflection: more important than maintaining the appearance of faith is examining our own intentions and living according to the Word of God. This involves acknowledging our mistakes, accepting correction, and turning knowledge into action.
The next Meditation of the Word will continue the study with Revelation 11. Watch live on Friday, October 16, exclusively on UNIVER Vídeo.
