Equipping Thousands With Knowledge to Recognize Scams and Stay Alert
Caleb Group’s “Raising Awareness About Financial Fraud” event reaches more than 75,000 people in 64 countries on August 22 and 23, according to UNIcom. Focused on people ages 50 and over, the event aimed to help participants recognize suspicious approaches and take precautions before sharing personal information or completing financial transactions.
In the USA, participants watched videos about Sweetheart Scams, Medicare Scams, Social Security Scams, and Phishing Scams. They also received flyers with important information about these scams and where to seek help from government organizations.
The Calebs were reminded to be cautious with unexpected phone calls, text messages, and emails, especially when personal or banking information is requested. They were also advised never to share passwords or verification codes or click on suspicious links.
The event also created an opportunity for participants to share their own experiences. Some Calebs had encountered similar scams and shared what they had experienced, allowing others to learn from one another.
Many participants benefited from the event and gained greater awareness of how to recognize potential scams and protect themselves.
Alongside the practical guidance, the event shared a prayer and this powerful reminder from Scripture:
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
The Caleb Group supports people ages 50 and over through ongoing spiritual support and monthly activities. Events like this provide opportunities to learn, share experiences, and encourage one another.
