The Night Vigil for the Holy Spirit Took Place on Monday, August 12th
At 1 AM CDT on August 12th, Bishop Edir Macedo led the Night Vigil in Pajamas for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The night vigil was broadcast live worldwide and translated simultaneously into several languages. People from around the globe participated from their homes and hospital rooms; wherever they were, at the moment, if they had a TV or radio channel linked to The Universal Church or access to the internet, they were able to connect Live and join in prayer in this faith.
The Bishop explained that God‘s greatest desire is to dwell in us. When the Holy Spirit descends upon someone, He generates life.
Thus, he drew a parallel with the biblical passage in which the angel of God speaks to Mary about the Holy Spirit: “And the angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.’” (Luke 1:35)
“When the Holy Spirit descends upon you, you will be a holy child of God,” the Bishop explained. “Even when struggles, difficulties, injustices, slander, and evil come against us, those who have the Holy Spirit will endure forever. The Living God resides within that person.”
The Bishop added that there is something crucial that we must do when seeking the Holy Spirit. “You need to bring out everything hidden in your heart: hurts, resentments. You carry sins that only you and God know. You have to bring all of this out before God. You will not speak to anyone but God.”
