AUNIPI Awarded Bishop Macedo the Peacemakers Merit Medal

On July 28th, 2024, Bishop Edir Macedo was honored by the American Mission of UN Peacekeeping Forces International Brazil (AUNIPI) with the Medalha Ordem do Mérito dos Pacificadores (Peacemakers Medal of Merit). AUNIPI is an organization affiliated with the United Nations (UN), holds mission status, and aims to foster dialogue and peace among peoples.

The honor included a document signed by Commander Angelo Madeira Neto, the superintendent of AUNIPI in South America, in addition to the insignia and a certificate. The content of the document reveals that the award was granted to the founder of The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God for fulfilling “a mission in the service of Peace and Understanding among human beings.”

The Peacemakers Medal of Merit is awarded to individuals who have made extraordinary efforts in favor of peace. This includes members of United Nations missions, military personnel on peacemaking missions abroad, and others whose work has had a significant effect on peace in the world.

The document received by Bishop Edir Macedo states that the distinction was granted with the consent of the Peace Operations Training Center (CIOP) located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The declaration also includes the bold phrase in Portuguese, “Making peace is preserving humanity,” at the end.
