God Listens to Those Who Approach Him With Humility and Faith
Meditating on Psalm 34:6, he noted that no suffering can hinder God’s action in the lives of those who seek Him with all their hearts.
This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. (Psalm 34:6)
Bishop Macedo pointed out that God draws near to the humble. He is the Lord of all things, residing in the heavens. Yet, He promises to be with those who acknowledge their spiritual needs and earnestly seek Him.
To reinforce this message, the bishop quoted Isaiah 57:15, which reveals that God dwells in the high and holy place but is also present with the contrite and humble in spirit to revive and save them.
Regardless of a person’s past or present circumstances, God remains willing to help when there is sincere repentance and a genuine cry for assistance.
The bishop explained that sin distances people from God and leads to suffering. However, this does not mean there is no hope.
In fact, when a person recognizes their condition and turns to God for help, they demonstrate their faith. This desire to resort to God’s Word and seek Him through prayer shows that transformation is still possible.
Bishop Macedo emphasized that God reaches out to the afflicted, those whose souls are sick, and those who are tired of suffering. His purpose is to revive the spirits of those who cry out for help and grant them a new life.
Moreover, the bishop stated that faith is not merely a feeling or a positive thought; it must be accompanied by practical actions.
Those seeking God’s help need to take steps toward Him—whether through prayer, obedience to His Word, or the decision to abandon everything that separates them from His presence.
God’s promise remains steadfast: He hears the cry of the afflicted and delivers them from their troubles.
All that is required is for a person to humble themselves before Him and seek Him with sincerity and faith.
