Scientists Say: The Asteroid That Wiped Out the Dinosaurs Did Not Act Alone
The Event Happened Through a Series of Impacts on Earth. What Explains This?
Millions of years have passed, but the evidence does not allow us to deny it: dinosaurs existed. However, understanding the reason that led to their extinction is still a challenge for many scholars.
The initial theories suggest that the species disappeared after a massive asteroid struck the Earth, creating a crater near the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. However, a new study published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment has revealed that the celestial body that struck the dinosaurs did not act alone. Scientists have identified a new underwater crater, named Nadir, in West Africa, more precisely off the coast of Guinea.
The research indicates that the Nadir crater, 8 kilometers in diameter, was formed from an asteroid measuring approximately 400 meters. It is believed that the rocky body hit the planet at a speed of 72,000 km/h, causing a global catastrophe.
Furthermore, using 3D seismic images, scientists mapped the event and revealed faults in the seabed, landslides, and a megatsunami at the same time as the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. Given the discovery, the study concludes that the extermination of dinosaurs occurred through a series of impacts on the Earth.
In Accordance With the Word
Verse 2 of the Book of Genesis describes the Earth as “formless and void,” where darkness dwelt. However, knowing that God is perfect in all of His creation, it is understood that such a condition of the planet was the result of an episode of total destruction, that is, the fall of Lucifer. He who was “the chief angel of God (Ezekiel 28.11-19) led a rebellion in Heaven and swept up a third of the angels with him. Because of this, the Most High was forced to expel him, along with his followers,” explains Bishop Edir Macedo in his published annotations, while meditating on Genesis 1:2.
How you have fallen from heaven, you star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, you who defeated the nations! But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ Nevertheless you will be brought down to Sheol, to the recesses of the pit. (Isaiah 14:12-15)
Your heart was haughty because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I threw you to the ground; I put you before kings, that they may see you. By the multitude of your wrongdoings, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; it has consumed you, and I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the eyes of all who see you. (Ezekiel 28:17-18)
And if Lucifer’s fall was, according to the Scriptures, capable of deforming a Work made to perfection, do you have any doubts that this event could cause a mass extinction?
