Unisocial in Montgomery on July 23rd, 2024

Alabama‘s Unisocial team and Caleb Group reached out to the community by distributing groceries and clothing on July 23rd and groceries, toys, clothing, and shoes on August 17th, 2024.

Montgomery‘s History and Current Challenges

Montgomery, Alabama, is known as the birthplace of the civil rights movement in the USA, was the home of Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. Historically, residents of Montgomery overcame several challenges that helped to shape the entire nation.

Montgomery City is currently home to over 200 thousand people. Reports indicate that in Montgomery County, 1 out of every 10 seniors aged 65 and older lives in poverty, 16 out of every 100 persons are food insecure, and 18 out of every 100 people are living in a state of repeated mental distress.

“You Must Support the Weak”

Volunteers of the Unisocial with the Caleb Group of Montgomery, Alabama, made it their monthly commitment to reach out and care for those in emotional distress in their community. On July 23rd, the Unisocial and Caleb Group distributed groceries and clothing. On August 17th, 2024, volunteers distributed groceries, toys, clothing, and shoes. They also offered simple manicures.

According to Pastor Daniel, “People were grateful for the work of the Unisocial as many have been going through hard times. The Caleb Group and Unisocial were happy and revived from this work of giving back.”  This recurring event took place at The Universal Church in Montgomery.

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35)

Approximately 30 people were reached on each event, mainly from the neighborhood of Capital Heights and families driving by. One gentleman was grateful for the suit he could now use for church and special occasions. One person stopped not for the distribution but for the prayer due to the challenges in the family.

Pastor Daniel and the volunteers also gave an encouraging message from the Word of God. They prayed for the attendees and the community. The most impactful and permanent assistance and change comes from hearing and practicing the Word of God.
