Trusting God

Trusting God

Have you ever been upset with God? Naomi from the Book of, “Ruth” in the Bible was widowed and childless when she returned to Israel. She changed her name, which meant “sweetness”, to Mara, meaning “bitter” and justified herself:

“I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”

In other words, she blamed God for her losses and became bitter. Similarly, many are like this. There are even those who stop believing and abandon their faith because they blame God for their problems and allow bitterness to enter their hearts.

We won’t always understand the reasons why certain things happen in life. God allows this so that we learn to trust even without understanding. Most people don’t think about how often they trust without understanding. For example when people trust how a plane flies or when they trust a prescription they receive from a doctor. But, when it comes to God, they require explanations.

Ruth, Naomi’s daughter-in-law, lost her husband and accompanied her mother-in-law to Israel. Israel was a foreign land that prohibited its men from marrying outsiders, but she decided to trust in God. She believed and because of this faith, she married Boaz. Afterwards she became David’s grandmother, and entered the genealogy of Jesus. Isn’t that wonderful?

That is what God does, He accepts those who are humble and place their trust in Him. Yet how can one trust someone they don’t know?

Our Wednesday services are designed to help you get to know and understand God better, through Biblical studies and the opportunity to express yourself to Him through prayer. Invest in the most important thing, your relationship with God, which will sustain you in difficult moments.
