Are You Crazy?

When Old Practices, Customs, and Routines Are Broken, Change Happens!

Are You Crazy

Are you crazy? Crazy is to do the same things and expect different results. It is unbelievable how easy it is for humans to live like this. People expect improvements, but they don’t change their daily attitudes. Logic teaches us that the results will be the same if we do the same things.

The Lord says,

“Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of Hosts: Consider your ways.” (Haggai 1:5)

He gave us human beings the ability to analyze, to reflect on the future and the consequences of our attitudes, a power that only He has. Unfortunately, few people use it, especially to evaluate the course of life.

We see, for example, in the story of Gideon (Judges 6). The people of Israel misbehaved, disobeyed God, and removed Him from their nation by adopting other gods. God does not abandon anyone. He accepts the choices human beings make.

The choice of those people made Israel far from grace. They were suffering, but they followed the same attitudes. They kept worshiping false gods, but once Gideon decided to act differently and cry out to God, could He work. The Lord guided Gideon to change his behavior which would generate different results. When old practices, customs, and routines are broken, change happens!

God changes a person’s life when they say, “I’m not going to do this anymore. Enough!” That causes a disruption, and things start to move. When this happens, prepare yourself because many will rise against you, as with Gideon.

Many people do not take this necessary attitude to change their lives because they fear the consequences. They think about the comments, the discomfort they can cause, and the criticism they will receive. But if you don’t move, you won’t have different results.

If you want to change your story, the recipe is:

  1. Stop doing the same things and ask God for direction so that He can show you what you have to do.
  2. Be as courageous as Gideon was if you want to see change.
  3. Don’t be afraid to break old habits.

The good news is that the results will speak for themselves when you do this. The results will be your prize and reward for doing something different.
