Thus, the \u201cpress\u201d of Gethsemane reveals something about our faith.<\/big><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The Meaning Behind the Name<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The name <strong>\u201cGethsemane\u201d<\/strong> carries a powerful and literal meaning: <strong>\u201coil press.\u201d<\/strong> It was a garden where olives were harvested and then pressed to extract pure olive oil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Lord Jesus Christ<\/strong> did not randomly select this location to spend His final moments of freedom. Just <strong>like olives<\/strong>, which must be crushed to release their most valuable essence, <strong>He was about to be pressed to the extreme<\/strong>. Gethsemane represents a place <strong>where pressure reveals what is inside us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What Pressure Reveals About You<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Pressure is the ultimate test of faith.<\/strong> It doesn&#8217;t alter who you are; rather, it exposes your true self. Just as Jesus prepared His disciples for what was to come, today the Word prepares us. It is written:<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #f2f8fc; padding: 2em; border-left: 5px solid #ccc; margin: 1em 0;\"><p>Then Jesus said to them, \u2018All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: \u201cI will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.\u201d\u2019 (Matthew 26:31)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nWhen the pressure comes, reactions can generally be categorized into three responses:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u2022 Self-Deception (Peter):<\/strong><br \/>\nPeter boldly claimed he would never deny the Master:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #f2f8fc; padding: 2em; border-left: 5px solid #ccc; margin: 1em 0;\"><p>\nEven if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble. (Matthew 26:33)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">He stood out, was impetuous and full of faith, but <strong>believed he was good enough<\/strong>. Many people live in this illusion, maintaining the facade of strength, but pressure often reveals self-deception and a lack of the Holy Spirit. When confronted with pressure, he could not hold on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u2022 Weariness and Flight (the Disciples):<\/strong><br \/>\nJesus asked His disciples to watch and pray with Him, yet they fell asleep three times out of exhaustion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #f2f8fc; padding: 2em; border-left: 5px solid #ccc; margin: 1em 0;\"><p>\nThen He said to them, \u2018My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.\u2019 (Matthew 26:38)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">They represent those who grow weary of the fight for souls, the sacrifices for serving the Lord Jesus, and the church. At the crucial <strong>moment of the press, they fled.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u2022 Spiritual Death (Judas):<\/strong><br \/>\nJudas betrayed the Lord, felt remorse, and ultimately took his own life. He symbolizes those who, <strong>under pressure, turn to money, to friends<\/strong> who lack the Spirit, or <strong>human solutions<\/strong>, resulting in <strong>spiritual death<\/strong>\u2014and sometimes even physical death.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The Example of Jesus: The \u201cPerfect Oil\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In contrast to the others, when Jesus&#8217; soul was pressed to the point of feeling separated from the Father, <strong>He shed blood and completely surrendered His will<\/strong>.
