{"id":343021,"date":"2024-09-24T13:00:43","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T17:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/?p=343021"},"modified":"2024-10-23T16:00:05","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T20:00:05","slug":"mega-help-2023-brings-together-thousands-of-young-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/post\/mega-help-2023-brings-together-thousands-of-young-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Mega HELP 2023 Brings Together Thousands of Young People"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mental health is one of the main topics addressed by health <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">agencies<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> since the worsening of conditions related to emotional well-being (depression, anxiety,\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> syndromes) has been responsible for 100 thousand cases of suicide in the Americas every year, mainly among young people aged 15 to 29. This number was indicated by research by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), which also reported that 80% of those suffering from psychological disorders do not receive the necessary care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-343028 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-29-03-300x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"274\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-29-03-300x300-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-29-03-300x300-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-29-03-300x300-1-132x132.jpg 132w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 274px) 100vw, 274px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">And it was <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">with the aim of providing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> emotional care to young people that, on October 14th, the second edition of <strong>Mega HELP,<\/strong> an initiative of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/help.ypg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>HELP Project,<\/strong><\/a><\/span> promoted overcoming and valuing life in an event that brought together thousands of people in the 26 states of Brazil and its capital. Another 45 countries also joined the movement for the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">emotional<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> well-being of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0young people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Among the Brazilian locations, the states of Rio de Janeiro stood out, which brought together around 15 thousand people at the <em>Marqu\u00eas do Sapuca\u00ed,<\/em> and S\u00e3o Paulo, which welcomed more than 30 thousand young people to the <em>Samb\u00f3dromo do Anhembi,<\/em> all motivated to overcome their internal conflicts and transform their traumas into a story of hope and a new beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Overcoming Challenges<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cListening, understanding, and<\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><em> helping\u201d<\/em> was the motto promoted by Mega HELP 2023. Bishop Celso J\u00fanior, responsible for the HELP Project in Brazil, participated in the event in S\u00e3o Paulo and commented that it is possible to notice <em>\u201cthat many do not have a good reference in their own home, they are depressed young people, who self-harm, who have thought about and even attempted suicide. And<\/em><\/span><em> at Mega HELP, through a youthful and healthy platform, they are heard and not judged.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To this end, hundreds of volunteers, many of whom have also faced and overcome similar problems, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">provided assistance<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> at the <em>Cantinho do Desabafo<\/em>, a place reserved for each young person to vent, talk, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> receive guidance. This space, already traditional at HELP, offers attention to young people who seek support and a place to talk about their emotional issues. One of the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">beneficiaries of the action<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> is Talita Aparecida, who was at Mega HELP for the first time and received support from the volunteers. She shares her experience, <em>\u201cThe HELP Project is a wonderful assistance where not only I, but other people who are going through similar or greater problems can find the help they are <\/em><\/span><em>really looking for, in addition to learning how to overcome their problems.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-343025 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-04-300x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-04-300x300-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-04-300x300-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-04-300x300-1-132x132.jpg 132w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The event in S\u00e3o Paulo also included motivational activities, such as the \u2018<\/span><em>Escalada<\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><em> da Supera\u00e7\u00e3o\u2019<\/em> (a rappel customized exclusively for the occasion), and different cultural performances and attractions, such as the <em>Banda FJU<\/em> and the musical <em>\u2018E Se?,\u2019<\/em> by the group <em>For\u00e7a Jovem Universal <\/em>(also known as <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ypg.usa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth Power Group).<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In addition, a talent show among the educational institutions supported by the HELP Project shook the crowd. The competition, organized in partnership with the City of S\u00e3o Paulo, mobilized students from ten schools from different regions who performed singing, dancing, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> band performances and were evaluated by a panel of judges formed by Record TV hosts Celso Zucatelli and Renata Alves, and by actor Dudu Pelizzari, who interprets Abner in the Kings TV Series. The Alcyr Oliveira Porciuncula State School was the big winner with the performance of an original song, which promoted the importance of taking care of mental health, and the central motto of the movement, which is, <em>\u201cI don&#8217;t judge you, I help you!\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Inner Value<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-343026 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-07-300x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-07-300x300-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-07-300x300-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-07-300x300-1-132x132.jpg 132w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/>A talk by writers Renato and Cristiane Cardoso also took place in S\u00e3o Paulo. They showed that the value of each young person is not conditioned by what society determines and that each person needs to understand their real value. They explained that those who do not understand their importance lose sight of their value and accept thoughts that say otherwise, even if it is not true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Renato and Cristiane clarified that no one can be measured by what is said about them but only by what God does for each person. As Cristiane explained that the <strong>key to change is understanding. <\/strong>She invited the young people to put what they learned into practice and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0never allow<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> others to nullify their value, which is defined by God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Story to Inspire You<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-343024 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-03-300x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-03-300x300-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-03-300x300-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/universalchurchusa.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/09\/1645-28-03-300x300-1-132x132.jpg 132w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>During the event, volunteers from the HELP Project used their own <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">stories<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of overcoming challenges to motivate those present. One of these volunteers is student Julia Eduarda, 18, who suffered traumas during her childhood and adolescence. A dysfunctional home, combined with the abuse she suffered, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">was<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> enough to cause her to develop depression, anxiety,\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> panic disorder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">With many open wounds, Julia sought relief <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">from<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0her pain in the world of prostitution and addiction<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, but her<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> problem became even worse with the death of her father and four other family members during the same period. <em>\u201cI was completely frustrated. I couldn\u2019t see any solution, I thought it was the end and that there was no way to change the situation I was in,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 she recalls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, the HELP Project showed her that her worth is greater than her pain and that it is possible to overcome the scars of the past. <em>\u201cThe HELP Project made me understand that the strong are not those who think they are self-sufficient, but rather those who seek help. And that is how I turned the end into a new beginning,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 she says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Today, Julia experiences joy in life every day and as a volunteer for the HELP Project, she says that she has the opportunity to use her story of overcoming adversity as motivation for those who go through what she once went through.
