On April 7th, 2024, six volunteers from the Caleb Group<\/a><\/span> in Virginia gathered together to visit the residents of the Barrington at Hioaks. The Caleb Group is made up of volunteers and members (50 years or better) who provide emotional support and understand the importance of experiencing life and growing in faith.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A study published in 2020 by the Oxford University Press<\/a><\/span>\u00a0shares a bit of an insight of how many elders living in care homes experience the feeling of loneliness. Out of the 5,115 participants living in care homes, 35% of them experience \u2018severe loneliness\u2019, while the remaining 61% experience \u2018moderate loneliness.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

As the Bible states,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Carry each\u00a0other\u2019s\u00a0burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”\u00a0(Galatians 6:2)<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If we see another\u00a0person’s\u00a0problem and treat it as if it were our own, we can make that one person happy! As for those who were present at the event, they\u00a0were given\u00a0gift bags, hand massages, and even prayers of healing and salvation.\u00a0There in\u00a0Richmond, Pastor Edward states,\u00a0\u201cThe residents were happy to receive prayers and gifts.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
