The Last Godllywood Self-Help Conference of 2024 Encouraged Women to Reflect on What Type of Fear Is Present in Their Lives
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines fear as “an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by expectation or awareness of danger.” But does fear always carry a negative connotation? On November 30th, at the last Godllywood Self-Help conference of 2024, Cristiane Cardoso explained that fear is something that God gave us and can do us good if used correctly.
“When we talk about this feeling, we can highlight the existence of irrational and rational fear. One is bad and reckless. The other is good and comes from God,” she explained, speaking directly from the Temple of Solomon. Cristiane recalled that many women have been led by this feeling of irrational fear, as they act desperately and make bad choices that generate several problems and insecurity.
So, what should we do when faced with the lack of control generated by fear? According to Cristiane, the secret to overcoming evil is to maintain the fear of God and live according to His Word. “Fearing God is avoiding evil and thinking about what God said, distinguishing between right and wrong, good and bad.”
Still, many do not want to fear God but choose to fear things and people, such as their husbands, lack of money, career, and even the beauty standards imposed by society. “The fear of God was something I learned from my mother when I was very young, and practicing it saved me from suffering,” she revealed.
In a special message during the conference, Ester Bezerra commented on the subject based on the verse from Proverbs 9:10, which highlights:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…
“To begin a walk with God, one must depend on the fear of Him, which is not being afraid of Him, but rather, considering Him,” she said, also clarifying that no one can be close to God or have His Spirit without fearing Him. For her, many women have lost faith and abandoned God precisely because of their lack of fear of the Lord.
Cristiane added that this reverence for God is one of the conditions for a person to avoid falling into sin—after all, every human being is tempted to sin every day. In this sense, consideration for God makes a person remain in the Faith. “God does not want to take away anyone’s pleasure, but rather to spare us from death. And fearing Him is the secret to solving the problems in your life and becoming truly independent,” she concluded.
