Flatbush Neighborhood’s Strengths and Challenges

The Flatbush neighborhood, located in the heart of Brooklyn, NYC, is a destination for Caribbean communities in the region because it has a diverse community that offers a variety of options for music, food, and arts.

In the combined area of Flatbush and Midwood, one of the major challenges faced by residents is the rent burden. Out of every 100 people, 54 spend more than 30% of their income on housing, and approximately 2 out of every 10 people live in poverty, according to NYC Community Health Profiles.
