Volunteers Serve Hot Soup and Spiritual Support to Local Residents
On November 1st, 2024, at 8 PM, Unisocial hosted an event in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, NYC, where ten volunteers came together to give back to the community by providing hot soup and books of faith.
The Flatbush neighborhood, located in the heart of Brooklyn, NYC, is a destination for Caribbean communities in the region because it has a diverse community that offers a variety of options for music, food, and arts.
In the combined area of Flatbush and Midwood, one of the major challenges faced by residents is the rent burden. Out of every 100 people, 54 spend more than 30% of their income on housing, and approximately 2 out of every 10 people live in poverty, according to NYC Community Health Profiles.
On November 1st, 2024, at 8 PM, Unisocial hosted an event in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, NYC, where ten volunteers came together to give back to the community by providing hot soup and books of faith. The event attracted over 70 people.
Pastor Alex Souza, responsible for the work of Unisocial in the Flatbush area, stated, “It is a pleasure for us to help those in need because we believe that this is what our Lord Jesus would do if He were here in our place.”
