Even with the current hectic lifestyle, sleeping well is still a fundamental principle for the regeneration of brain functions. The prefrontal cortex, which is the area of the brain associated with behavior planning and personality expression, remains more active in rested people, which makes sleep essential for the proper functioning of the mind.
Sleeping poorly is the trigger for several diseases: high blood pressure, anxiety, heart attack, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, premature aging, and difficulty concentrating.
Sleep deprivation leads to weight gain, risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Our memory capacity is also affected. Insomnia can also be a symptom of other diseases, such as depression and thyroid disorders.
Do problems take your sleep away?
Insomnia can have a spiritual origin. Take a look at the story of a person who overcame the difficulty to sleep with an attitude of faith.
DEBTS TOOK MY SLEEP AWAY
For almost two years, the night routine of Deivid was to turn from side to side in bed. Instead of sleeping, Deivid thought about the bills he had to pay. The insomnia started when he decided to leave a good job to open his own company providing small repairs. Deivid was confident, but the reality turned out to be quite different from his expectations.“I took the company already in debt. When I started, one problem after another appeared and I did not know how to deal with tax procedures.”
Deivid grew up in a Christian home but admits that he did not follow the precepts that were taught. “I had been attending church since I was seven, I even had a notion of what faith was. I heard the word, but I left the same way.”
When he opened his company, Deivid had to assume several roles: management, customer service, finance, etc. Overwork contributed to insomnia.“I was a one-man army. I made some contracts where my company needed to be available 24 hours a day. I worked day and night and lost count of how many hours I worked. When I took a day off, I couldn’t sleep.”
For another sleepless night, Deivid made a decision: “I saw a Universal program on TV and decided to strengthen my faith.”
He recalls that he returned to the Universal Church and made a purpose with God. What seemed crazy to others soon brought results. The first change was in sleep. “I started to have peace and went back to sleep because I assured that I would solve my problems because God was in control.”
Shortly after, he began to sign more contracts. “I closed 23 contracts with 23 insurance companies. This gave the company a boost and I managed to pay off the debts.” According to him, his life has also undergone transformations in other areas.“At the Universal Church, I met my wife, Fernanda. God continued to give us visions. Today, we have two stores, in addition to the service provider, and we are looking to open another company.”
