It has become common for many denominations to use the word Universal to identify their church or religion. Various times people confuse The Universal Church with the Unitarian Universalism. Both may share a similar name but are very different in belief. Unitarian Universalism embraces different teachings and philosophies from all parts of the world and religions. It’s a religion that is open-minded: helping their congregants choose what they want to believe in based on what makes sense to them in their search of finding the truth and meaning. Many Unitarian Universalist’s may have different belief’s but have the same core values such as love, justice, and integrity. Members go based on the Unitarian Universalist principles which derive from science, poetry, scriptures and life experiences. The Unitarian Universalist 7 principles serve as a moral guide and help promote strong values in life, in its follower’s quest to find truth and meaning. Below are the Unitarian Universalist 7 principles.

  • 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

On the other hand, The Universal Church believes that Jesus Christ is the Lord and savior. When a person surrenders his or her life to the Lord Jesus and repents, in Him the person finds reason and purpose in life. The UCKG teachings and practices are based on the Bible, leading people to the truth and guidance in their daily lives. In services, Pastor’s teach its congregants that when one’s faith is exercised; a person’s faith can move mountains and that the impossible becomes possible. One sees the power of God and is able to achieve happiness, love, justice and a complete life transformation. The Universal Church has a set belief to preach the gospel to everyone in the world just as the Lord Jesus mentions it in the holy scriptures; reaching out to all of those who are in need, regardless of belief, sexual – orientation, gender, etc.
