Asthma; inflamed airways inside your lungs while having periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. 9.8 percent of women aged 18 years or older have asthma, compared to 5.4 percent of men.

Asthma and Sleep Apnea

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 13 people has asthma. In some cases, a person who has asthma for an extended period develops sleep apnea. Though there is no cause and effect relationship, there is an association. The chances of developing a nighttime breathing disorder known as sleep apnea increases. Untreated sleep apnea symptoms can include; depression, high blood pressure, heart attack, congestive heart failure, stroke or depression.

An estimated 22 million Americans suffer from moderate to severe sleep apnea. What about you?

My name is Mahilia,

Asthma and Sleep ApneaPrior to coming to this ministry, I had several health conditions.

I was diagnosed with asthma since I was 21 years old, during graduate school. My doctor told me he suspected I had sleep apnea and he did more studies and one of those studies showed how I stopped breathing fifty times a night. I used to stay up at night on purpose until 4:00 am in the morning before I even tried to sleep. Upon seeing the Showdown of Faith on TV, I saw Bishop speaking.

I listened to the entire program and it touched me because I was going through depression and my mother has recently passed away due to the same health issues, I was scared. When I went back to the doctor for a follow-up, after the sleep apnea study, he looked at one test result and several other test results. He looked at it again several times and said: “Oh you’re cured”. I was afraid because I saw what the end result of not being on that machine is. I saw what happens when you’re not on the machine because my mother passed away not using it. The same nebulizer machine that I was using eight times a day was reduced to twice and soon after the doctor told me I no longer needed to use it.

I used the nebulizer (breathing machine) to taking the medication. One day I decided to use my faith and participated in the spiritual treatment. I am free from sleep apnea, I am free from the condition where I stop breathing at night, I am free from my asthma.
