How do I know if God has forgiven me?4 min read

Unfortunately, the devil has managed to leave many sincere Christians stagnant in faith and unable to have a true encounter with God. He does this when he succeeds in planting doubt in their hearts with respect to God’s forgiveness.

They are people who came to the Church with their lives destroyed, decided to abandon their mistakes and surrender their lives to the Lord Jesus. However, because they do not have the full conviction of Divine forgiveness, they are unable to develop an intimate relationship with God and they are reeling in faith.

They are constantly bombarded with accusatory thoughts, such as “you do not deserve forgiveness,” “what you have done is unforgivable,” “you are marked forever,” among other voices.

These thoughts are blown in their minds when they go to pray, and especially when they seek the Holy Spirit.

It has been so since they made the decision to take the faith and live in obedience to the Word of God. Because of this, they do not understand why these thoughts do not get out of their heads. Since they have kept away from sin and sought to walk in communion with God.

If that has been your struggle, I have good news for you: though it may seem, these thoughts are not yours. That’s it. It is another strategy of the devil to prevent you from being born of God and reaching the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

The devil is an accuser. He will always try to somehow plant the doubt within the Christian, especially in the newly converted. Making him feel guilty, inferior and incapable. Trying to convince him that he does not deserve God’s forgiveness. For in this way you will be able to neutralize your faith.

But who said that we need to have merits to reach the promises of God? It is only through a living faith that we obtain the grace of God, and forgiveness is part of it.

How do you know if god has forgiven your sins

Bishop Edir Macedo explains that God’s blessing depends on faith. “A living faith, active, intelligent and rational. God wants to forgive, but it is necessary for those who come to Him to manifest faith. Belief in God, like forgiveness, is not feeling. It is a matter of reason, reasoning, “he emphasizes.

However, it is necessary to be aware that God’s forgiveness is conditional. Therefore, in order to attain it we must meet these four conditions:

1st condition: repentance

“And Peter said unto them, REPENT, and every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38

2nd condition: confession of sin

“If we CONFESS our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1: 9

3rd condition: the abandonment of sin

“He that covereth his transgressions shall never prosper; but he that confesseth and LEAVE them shall obtain mercy. “Proverbs 28:13

4th condition: Forgive (including yourself)

“And when they are praying, if they have anything against anyone, then FORGIVE him, that the heavenly Father also may forgive their sins. But if you do not forgive, your Father in heaven will not forgive your sins. ” Mark 11: 25-26

Then, evaluate whether there really was sincere repentance, confession, abandonment of sin, and if you have not borne within yourself hurt or resentment against your neighbor. If so, review your spiritual condition and repair.

But if, after reflection, your consciousness is clean and at peace with respect to these four necessary conditions, then there is no reason to doubt. Get rid of those thoughts of accusation blown by the devil. Whenever they come to your mind rebuke them in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Just believe and take possession of the promise of God that says:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has delivered me from the law of sin and death. “Romans 8
