On May 19, 2018, a 17-year-old killed 10 people in Santa Fe High School. The Police Cheif of Santa Fe Independent School District, states they found explosive devices in the surrounding areas in addition to the mass murder.
The world will only focus on what they see, which in this case was a boy with straight A’s, goes to church, seems active with sports, and has NO criminal background. Yet, was able to destroy many families. It doesn’t make sense, nor fits the profile of someone capable of doing so.
Many try to come up with an explanation for these tragedies but are not able to. Some will blame it on gun control, parents, others on gaming, the schools for not seeing an aggressive behavioral pattern or some sort of past trauma. Although they can contribute, it is not the source. Many will eventually come up with their own conclusion, and even fight for the cause; anti-games, anti-guns, anti, anti anti.. but will it really solve the problem?
How can a parent fight something they don’t even understand or they cannot foresee in the future? Every parent can only go so far as protecting their children, especially in such dangerous situations. One can feel even hopeless, thinking that there is nothing they can do about it, but there is. Don’t underestimate the power of prayer as if they are just words. True, they are just words. However, when they are sincere and are followed by actions of faith, your prayer can make a difference.
